She currently represents the WSU pharmacy program at the Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Committee meetings (formerly the WA Board of Pharmacy) and has been involved in advancing the role of pharmacists in Washington through both the legislative and rule-making process. Julie currently serves on the WSPA Board of Directors as the appointed WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences representative (2014-Present). In support of the profession of pharmacy, Julie completed two elected terms on the Board of Directors of the Washington State Pharmacy Association, one term as a Director-at-Large (2008-2010) and one term on the Executive Committee (2011-2013) having been President of the WSPA in 2012. Julie is also the Chapter Advisor for the Washington State Pharmacy Association (WSPA) and is the Grand Council Deputy for Kappa Psi Beta Pi. She serves on Faculty Senate, the Curriculum committee, and has previously served on the Admissions and Assessment committees. Her courses at the College of Pharmacy include Healthcare Systems, Pharmacy Management, Pharmacy Law, Practical Politics and Pharmacy, and she guest lectures in Pharmacotherapy. Prior to joining WSU, Julie spent 14 years in community pharmacy in a variety of roles, including pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager, and District Manager for a regional independent chain, and as Manager of Retail Pharmacies for a regional physician-owned clinic. She has worked on grant-funded research involving pharmacist-provided patient care for minor illnesses as well as Hepatitis C Antibody screening. Her interests include advancing the role of pharmacists in improving health outcomes for underserved patients while promoting the role of the pharmacist in public health. Julie’s focus is on innovative practice in the ambulatory care/community setting.
